Jonathan Gooders of Framers in Wimbledon was recently awarded a finalist prize in the Fine Art Trade Guild National Picture Framing Awards, the framing industry equivalent of the Oscars.
The awards are held each year, with entries coming from every corner of the UK, so competition is very stiff.
“I’d not entered the awards before, so to be elected a finalist on my first go is a great honour”, said Jonathan Gooders.
The Fine Art Trade Guild is the trade association for the art and framing industry. Formed in 1910, the Fine Art Trade Guild is the successor to the Printsellers’ Association which had been set up in 1847. They also publish the award-winning trade magazine Art Business Today. Entry to the guild is strictly by a rigorous exam, testing a framers experience, knowledge and understanding of all aspects of bespoke picture framing by a panel of industry recognised framing professionals. Jonathan became a Guild Commended Framer in 2010.
Jonathan’s award winner frame is currently on display at Framers, on Quicks Road, Wimbledon (just a short walk from South Wimbledon tube).
